This is a really pleasurable way to enjoy a river holiday , weather and scenery of the area without the hassle of mooring. however the fun of cruising the rivers gives a real sense of adventure as the area is so diverse, from the peaceful country walks to the moorings in the centre of Norwich where the shopping is brilliant. There are the seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, where you can moor your cruiser and Lowestoft which is a short bus ride from Oulton Broad. The area has something for everyone as well as some lovely sunshine making it a destination we have been returning to over the last twenty years.

This holiday was excellent. Although we have stayed at this boat yard before, we stayed on the main river. We were a little concerned about staying in the basin but our doubts were completely unjustified. The whole holiday was very relaxing and all of the staff were very friendly and asked often if we were enjoying our stay, suggesting places of interest, and didn’t fail to ask if they could help with our luggage both getting on and off the boat. We will definitely be returning!

It can be as much or as little as you want it to be, you can cruise for just a couple hours a day and cover less territory, doing more activities on shore, or you can cruise the whole of the Broads and spend all your time on the water. The scenery is beautiful, lots of walking available at the moorings, many other activities on shore, relaxing – an overall superb holiday!

I have already recommended the holiday and the yard to several people.We found the holiday to be one of total relaxation and enjoyment. The existence of long distance footpaths meant we could take our digs for long walks every mooring, which also gave us the chance to see even more of the countryside and bird/wildlife. The slow pace of progress along the waterways provides a perfect antedote to the hustle of normal working life in which the clock rules so much of our time. I could wax eloquent for page after page of text, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Please feel free to use any of my comments encouraging people to enjoy and respect the Broads – it can only benefit such an important area.

It really is a different experience. For the first few days I found it quite challenging (mooring etc), but by the end of the week I felt I’d learned a new skill! I’m not an ornithologist, but my wife and I were blown away by the sight of herons, black swans and even kingfishers (2 of them). We came home with the burning desire to book again!
